While waiting for things to arrive from Mouser and DigiKey I started to jump into an on going project of cleaning up and consolidating.
Normally I do little bits at a time - hence the constant mess on the bench. I had to move something in the garage and a long thin box fell on me. The box contained a couple of Manfrotto Autopoles. These are two poles that fit inside each other. A spring loaded leaver locks the poles and forces them slightly apart. The poles fit tightly between the floor and the celling then you attach clamps etc.
I've been using the poles for decades for photographic work, mostly for backgrounds. As I don't do much commercial photographic work these days I've decided to swap the tripods and light stands in the workshop that I keep tripping over.
I've gone further and ordered a few extra bits and bobs to mount cameras etc. so the floor is now clear of "stuff". Radios and amplifiers are a different matter...
