The GX 300 was everybodys dream radio in 1975, but none of us could aford it!

This model came at the, short lived, height of the Military Style craze of the mid 1970's. It was perhaps the most desirable radio after the Sony. JVC and Sharp also got into the act. Then manufacturers in Hong Kong and Tiawan made copies and over did the concept in milary green. It was over in about two to three years.

All my friends wanted a GX 300 particularly in red. However, they were very expensive. A friend had a JVC 8240 with its tweeter and joy stick tone control. I remember it sounding particularly good on the 1 FM station that played anything like pop music. (ABC-FM). I'm not sure what happended to that radio...

Anyway, this particular GX 300 is in reasonable condition, but missing the strap. It works. That's good news because they have a particularly hard to find IC in them. It sounds, well not bad, and receives stations well. It needs a good service and clean.

This example was purchased at the HRSA market, July 2025, for $30. (I've seen very nice red examples for $300-350.)
