Healing

The Healing R401E was a fairly basic radio in a lineup that didn't shine.

In post war Australia resources were pretty tight. As radio manufacture recovered companies used pre-war designs and military surplus parts.

This radio had been a TRF set prior and during the war. The chassis was updated, but performance was pretty poor.

This radio was in poor condition when purchased in Tyabb, but it had plenty of potential. The dial was in good condition, and the Bakelite cabinet was very dull, but not damaged. 

A full recap and the replacement of two resistors brought the radio back to life. The dial glass was filthy yet cleaned up well. The cabinet simply needed plenty of elbow grease to bring it back to life.

The set was obviously designed for strong signal areas with interefence as despite my best efferts to align it it doesn't perform at all well. 

It remains a pretty display piece, but it will never win awards for performance.
