Sony CRF-160

The CRF-160 was released sometime in the early 1970s (1972??).

It's very large and very heavy. 8.5kg! It contains early NiCad rechargeable batteries.

It boasts Double RF Conversion. This greatly increased sensitivity until full electronic tuning came about in the early 1980s.

FM sounds very good, but this example has jammed or broken AM buttons so it it only latches on FM.

There was a long line of increasingly complicated and sophisticated CRF radios from Sony, but as with all high end Sony radios, they are very hard to come by in Australia as they were mainly special order and very expensive.
