Kriesler - 11-20

c. 1948 - 1950

Kriesler 11-20 (Plumb Pudding)

The Kriesler 11-20 is a four valve - two band - table radio. It was available in Brown and Cream Bakalite. It is a mini version of the much larger 11-7.

Like the 11-7 is has many versions caused by post war shortages. The 11-20 has 27 variations.  Variants with the 5Y3 are reportedly particularly prone to self-destructing!

The radio cabinet follows Krieslers' habit of the time of building cabinets that are super think (5-8mm).

The pictured example is in faily nice condition, although it has much grime to come off in corners. The dial is in perfect shape.

The 5 inch speaker sounds reasonable for the age of the radio, but bass is lacking.

May 2024 update

At a recent deacesed eastate sale I had the oportunity to purchase a second plumb pudding, this time in the walnut Bakalite. This example is in excellent cosmetic condition appart from a knob. It was working, but now it's not. It will need a full electrical restoration.
