Sanyo

I'm not a fan of Sanyo products. When I was a young teenager in the 1970s I bought a Sanyo two band AM/SW radio on Lay-Buy from Pattersons in Greensbough. My father was not happy when he found out! When I brought it home many weeks later, it worked well for about 3 months, but the dial cord was so tight that the plastic holding the dial drum/knob wore out and broke. We took it back, but because warrantees were only 90 days from the original date of purchase, they argued the radio was already 6 months old. So they natuarally declined to do anything. I guess it was a learning experience for a 13 year old with his first job. (A paper round.) Today I would have taken them to Consumer Affairs because the radio hadn't been used and was in their posession for 3 months until I made the final payment.

Then I spotted this at the HRSA estate sale in early 2023, I knew I just had to have it despite it's poor condition electrically.

It measures only 90mm x 90mm x 38mm and contains an AM radio and Seiko watch movement.

I also found the schematics, so as long as the transistors are OK, then it's on my fix list. All the parts are present. I can't imagine they sold many of these as the price was very high for the time. However, it is gorgeous.
