General Impressions
Again I had two of these machines. I picked up the second machine when clearing a deceased estate. It was free as it had holes drilled in the front panels! I gave it to a friend who is slowly restoring the mechanicals and electronics.
It was an interesting comparison to my unit, the free one sounded dull, muffled, and lifeless, whilst mine sounded fabulous even though all the capacitors etc. are original. So it goes to show how condition matters greatly.
Sony threw everything at this machine, 3 heads, very large VU meters, a full switching pre-amp, and a 15 watt RMS amplifier.
The pre-amplifier has line, tuner, and magnet phono cartridge RCA terminals.
One can be seen in the background of the Australian Broadcasting Commission show "Hit Scene". Dick Williams hosted this pop music program on a Saturday afternoon between the racing and the football!
My next door neighbour had one and I used to listen to it when baby sitting their children in the early 1970s.
