AWA (The Fisk) Radiola

AWA Fisk Radiola - R81W 

This was a very short lived model, being released just prior to the out-break of World War 2. 

The chassis had been around for a number years in a number of guises, but was not continued afer the war. 

It shares styling with the 51G-W, also a five valve set. However there are detail changes, and the 51 is more "luxurious" with more wood veneer. Both models were also available with Bakelite cabinets.

This example was bought during the first lockdown in Melbourne from Ebay to serve as a parts set for my late partners grandparents one. 

Someone had started to restore it, then given up.

It's now March 2023, so I haven't been in a hurry to restore it!

The grill cloth - not original, was painted black on the inside stoping the sound. It was replaced with a print fabric.

On one of the IF cans the adjustment screw slot was half missing.

Three of the valves were very tired, and need replacing.

The speaker cone was badly damaged, so needs replacing. (See part 3 of video below.)
