No news on the biopsy, but some good news on my bad hip.
Apparently when you have surgery down stairs they bend you like a banana. Normally it's not a big problem, but some people can have on going issues.. I'm now on the Physio program, and a short 5 minute session has improved things markedly. She also gave me exercises to do.
3 weeks ago I had 2 HMV radios of similar vintage come in. One is fairly straightforward, but the other, model C23B, is a nightmare.
Yesterday we had a zoom meeting and 4 of us could not work out the radio. There are 2 capacitors in a single fully insulated can. Turns out the centre of 3 pins is positive and the outers are negative. This means the CAN is NOT earthed to the chassis and is LIVE. Furthermore, the set has been butchered, so we couldn't work out what was going on. It has certainly been modified from the original schematic by the repairer.
The other one also has a similar double capacitor, but hasn't been butchered. So be warned on these HMV sets.
Talking of modified sets. I started work on a Mullard (Philips) model 62 from 1939. There were 3 models of this radio. An AC (model 61), a battery, and a vibrator version (both model 62). The radio is the last of the dozens I bought at deceased estates a number of years ago.
This particular example turns out to be modified from a battery/vibrator version to an AC set some time in the very early 1950s, Date stamps on the transformers. So it's a real head scratcher. You can see work so far on my YouTube channel.
