Hotpoint

P64MEX - c. 1955

This Radio was purchased in Adelaide in May 2021. It is in fair condition, although it is missing the original knobs.

The Ivory cabinet is common to the 449MA, 467MA, 461, etc., but with the Hotpoint face plate. These came in a variety of bright colours in addition to the standard Ivory, White, and Grey. The knobs are obviously not original.

The radio itself worked well, but it did get very hot. A recap improved the situation, markedly.

The chassis was in poor condition with plenty of heavy rust. This was treated with a rust converter, and painted with silver "hamered" spray paint.

As with all AWA radios of this type the speaker was bad, and sounded very scratchy. It was replaced by an inexpensive car speaker from Jaycar.
