Welcome to ElecroSound

Hi, my name is Andrew, and I’m the owner of ElectroSound.

We repair and restore audio equipment.

We are located in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

Above you will find many of the radio’s and tape recorders I have worked on over many years. We have a YouTube channel. Some of the radios are for sale on this site.

To navigate all the radio models go to the manufacturer page on the menu above, and select the model from the gallery of images if available.

Repairs

I can undertake repairs and restorations to your valued equipment.

If you would like a quote click here.

I undertake the work in Ballarat, about 100km west of Melbourne. We regularly visit Melbourne, and can arrange pickup and return. So please factor that in before completing the form. Postage and freight has become very expensive recently as freight companies have sought to offset the cost of renting shipping containers and the ships themselves that are in short supply. It sadly may not be worth the cost to repair/restore less valuable equipment and you may consider one of our already restored items, or find a local radio club (such as the Historical Radio Society of Australia) in your area.

Furthermore, for items such as older transistor based equipment parts may need to be ordered from overseas. I have had to wait over six months for things to arrive so be very patient.

We now have Merch!

If you would like to purchase an Electrosound branded, mug, cool summer Tee Shirt, warm winter hoodie, or stickers, go to the Shop link in the menu at the top of any page or click the text at right.

I have a YouTube channel where the more interesting repairs take place.  I endevour to make a video each week, and there are over 100 to choose from on the channel.

Please visit, watch, like, and subscribe.

(I try to keep this page up  to date with the latest video, but as I make and schedule them a few weeks before YouTube only allows live links to publicly released videos.)

July 2025

I’ve not been doing as much as I would like over the past few months and can only do 1-3 hours 0on any day due to fatigue. A recent hospital visit revealed good and bad… They are concerned that the PSA is very high and about the rapid growth of the prostate. MRI scans of the prostate a few weeks ago were clear, but the can miss up to 25%. The surgery I had in May last year is likely OK, but probably left scarring etc. I therefore have to go in for a biopsy and while in they are going to check…

June 2026

Apart from getting in a Weltron GEC 2007 and a few low end turntables, things have been quiet. This morning I upgraded this site to a new version of the page builder I use. Divi 5. I plan to tidy up this site and add a few more features. I didn’t want to put in the effort and have the software upgrade change it all. Divi 5 has gone across to WordPress type interface. That is not necessarily a bad thing. However, even though it’s been in the wild for 6 months, the form I have updated is not…

May 2026

Well it’s the end of May already and a glorious day outside. Little has happened over the past few weeks with me doing customer repairs of entry level turntables and cassette decks – both involving belts and little else. I have managed to get two reel to reel tape recorders going. A Sony TC-352D that is being used for the long process of going through the tapes from the deceased estate. (Some interesting stuff, but a lot of common uninteresting songs from the radio.) There’s a lot of Ampex…
